The Hotel Atlantico was built in 1890, on the same date as Balneário Vila Siqueira, and its planning was parallel to the construction of the railway that would connect this area to the city of Rio Grande.That year, the resort already offered visitors a hotel with dozens of rooms, a dining room and kitchen with qualified staff, large concert halls, dance halls, games rooms and reading areas. In addition, it had donkey-drawn trams that took bathers along the main avenue. Swiss-style chalets with wooden cutouts embellished the landscape.Many parties took place on the premises of the Hotel. In the summers, orchestras and shows from Rio de Janeiro (the capital of Brazil at the time) came to hold events in the Hotel's halls... Serenades, soirees and literary meetings.Colonel Leivas bought the entire area at auction in 1905. He was an investor and well-known entrepreneur who participated in large projects, investing in the construction of trams, maritime transport and railways, among other areas. When he died on June 22, 1926, he left his niece Maria José Leivas Otero as his sole heir, who was responsible for developing the resort.The name Casino was given due to a large and fully equipped gaming room installed here. This impeccable “casino” became known and admired in Brazil.From August 1941 to December 1943, the Army used the Hotel as its General Headquarters. However, its use as a military unit caused many changes and damages at the time.Today, Balneário do Cassino has another reputation, registered in the Guinness Book, and which makes its residents very proud of being the longest beach in the world. It is approximately 240km long, located in the extreme south of the country.In 1979, the Hotel came under the control of the Guanabara group, and introduced several renovations over the decades.With over 120 years of existence, the Hotel currently seeks, through its mission, vision and values, to offer its guests continuous improvements and experiences.happy with well-being.
